RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to play a leading role in a cutting-edge interdisciplinary and multi-institute research project: Developing a risk assessment and communication platform to translate climate projections to policy. The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Terry van Gevelt (Singapore Management University), Professor Winston Chow (Singapore Management University), Professor Adam Switzer (Nanyang Technological University), Associate Professor Sonny Rosenthal (Nanyang Technological University) and Associate Professor Brian Mc Adoo (Duke University) to develop a climate risk and communication platform for Singapore and other major cities in Southeast Asia. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of climate risk reduction and developing novel communication strategies to translate climate science to policy in Singapore and the region.
The successful candidate will:

Conduct research to identify key climate risks in Singapore and other major cities in Southeast Asia;
Examine instances of successful adaptation or maladaptation, and path dependencies in climate risk reduction approaches;
Contribute to the development of a climate risk communication platform built around immersive virtual reality narratives;
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, policymakers, and other stakeholders to translate research findings into actionable policies and practices;
Publish research findings in high-impact interdisciplinary journals and present at international conferences;
Mentor and collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph D in climate science, environmental science, ecology, or a related discipline.
The successful candidate will have a strong research background in climate change, adaptation, and mitigation, as demonstrated by a track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
The candidate should further demonstrate proficiency in relevant modelling or data analysis tools, excellent communication skills, and an ability to conduct independent research, learn new skills from other disciplines, and work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
Experience and interest in translating climate science to policy is a must.
