Job Description
The objective of the project is to create new peptide modalities that can be used for infectious disease and cancer.
- Carry out research for new peptide natural products discovery and development including recombinant protein expression, and production and extraction of natural products.
- Train undergraduate and graduate students.
- Oversee and maintenance of analytical equipment.
Qualifications
- Ph D in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
- Biochemical techniques: protein expression and purification, SDS-PAGE, size exclusion and affinity chromatography.
- Molecular biology: heterologous expression in E. coli and other bacterial hosts.
- Analytical chemistry: characterization of natural products and peptides. Well-versed in the use of HPLC, MS, and NMR for structural characterization.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Able to work effectively in a team.
Experience:
- Previous research experience in natural products chemistry, biosynthesis, antimicrobial peptides, protein-protein interactions, or related research area.
