We are offering an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking to grow their career by joining our Data & Analytics Practice working with our medical scheme and other healthcare sector clients in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their technical skills, learn from more experienced technicians and accelerate the advancement of their actuarial, analytical and data science capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and executing a variety of tasks to a very high standard to support healthcare analytics projects for different sets of clients in the South African healthcare industry

• Extracting, manipulating and reconciling data from multiple sources and reports;  Updating, maintaining and enhancing models, dashboards and reports

• Analysing data to identify key issues, develop and recommend solutions, and drive data-based decision-making

• Building subject matter expertise over time including your knowledge of medical scheme products and other healthcare financing structures, and your knowledge of and ability to use various analytical tools and techniques to advise on these products and structures

Competencies, Qualifications & Experience

• A recent tertiary qualification in actuarial science (preferred) or a statistics, mathematics or data science-related degree with a strong academic record

• Up to 3 years' experience in the South African healthcare or insurance market (note: recent graduates and those graduating at the end of 2024 without work experience will also be considered for the Analyst role)

• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities, including being able to apply learned skills to new and unique analyses

• Ability to engage and collaborate in a team to achieve individual and team goals; A high level of enthusiasm for the industry, a positive attitude, energetic approach, curiosity and willingness to learn

• Self-managing with the ability to work independently, remain flexible and prioritise competing demands and organise workflow clearly

• Communication and interpersonal skills including being able to convey and explain information, coherently and confidently, both verbally and in writing

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point; Knowledge of analysis and statistical software such as SQL, R/ R-Shiny, SAS, Python is desirable
