TECHNOLOGIST/LABORATORY SCIENTIST
HISTOLOGY, LYTTLETON

Path Care Vermaak is a partnership of pathologists in private practice across South Africa that has been assisting
doctors and healthcare professionals determine and confirm diagnoses since 1922. We are registered with the
HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) and all our laboratories are SANAS accredited.
Opportunities exist for Experienced Medical Technician or Experienced Medical Technologist or Experienced Medical
Laboratory Scientist to join the team in the Histology department at the Lyttleton branch. We are seeking
individuals with a proven track record of displaying competence and who have a high level of ethics and integrity
while consistently aligning with the Path Care values.

• Medical Technician/Medical Technologist/Medical

Laboratory Scientist Certificate in Histology

• Current registration with the HPCSA in Histology

• Computer literate with Skylims knowledge is advantageous

• Knowledge/understanding of the stock management

system

• 3-5 years of Histology experience post HPCSA registration

as a qualified Medical Technologist, Medical Technician orMedical Laboratory Scientist

• Should be willing to assist on night shifts on an ad hoc basis

• Experience in technical procedure development and

implementation

• Experience in maintaining QA Systems

• Client-focused with strong interpersonal relations

• Effective verbal and electronic communication skills
  

• Experience in grossing and macro description of tissue

samples

• Problem-solving ability (including QC and instrument

related)

• Excellent attention to detail

• Experience in immunohistochemistry

• Ability to work under pressure and display resilience and

tenacity in challenging situations

• Result-orientated

• Emotional intelligence

• Must be fluent in English with an understanding of

Afrikaans

• Must be prepared to work both day and night shifts,

weekends & public holidays

• Must have an acceptable track record/performance record

with regard to the technical and behavioural competencies
required to perform in this position
