We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance in a trading or manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and taxation in relation to trading and/or manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:

• General Accounting:
• Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate accounting for all transactions.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Cost Accounting (Manufacturing-specific):
• Track and analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.
• Prepare cost analysis reports and advise management on cost-saving strategies.
• Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions and ensure proper valuation of stock.
• Taxation and Compliance:
• Prepare and file VAT/GST, income tax, and other statutory returns on time.
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and assist in tax audits.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants to ensure proper documentation and filings.
• Budgeting & Forecasting:
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
• Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide financial insights to management for decision-making and strategy development.
• Financial Controls & Process Improvement:
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Continuously review and improve accounting processes and systems.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
• Inventory Management (Trading-specific):
• Monitor inventory levels and perform periodic inventory counts.
• Ensure accuracy in inventory valuation and track stock movements.
• Reconcile inventory discrepancies and coordinate with the warehouse team.
• Cash Flow & Working Capital Management:
• Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the company has sufficient liquidity.
• Optimize working capital by efficiently managing payables and receivables.
• Assist in treasury functions, including loan management and foreign exchange transactions.
• Financial Analysis & Reporting:
• Analyze financial performance, including profitability, liquidity, and cost efficiency.
• Prepare management reports to provide insights into financial performance and key business metrics.
• Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted financial results.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA/CA qualification is preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a trading or manufacturing company.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, Quick Books) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ERP systems in a trading or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with local tax regulations and compliance.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: R130 000,00 - R150 000,00 per month
