Your contribution will be
- Overseeing the health and well-being of all the sanctuaries animals, mainly big cats
- Being part of all veterinary related tasks, including procedures, medical check ups, diagnostics
- Upkeeping of medical records
- Observational assessments of all animals and adjustments to their medication and care, depending on the individual’s needs, including husbandry aspects such as nutritional and environmental needs
- Contributing to general husbandry as part of the animal management team
- Contributing to preventative medicine protocols in a captive welfare setting
- Participating in and supporting the safe transfer of animals to the sanctuary
- Assisting in managing free roaming game
Your profile ideally illustrates
- Ideally several years of experience in small or mixed animal practice, preferably including a welfare and/or wildlife settings
- Fully qualified veterinarian, must be registered with the South African Veterinary council or eligible to do so
- For South Africa, due to Employment Equity Laws, applications from South African citizens only, are required
- Highly motivated animal welfare mindset
- Fluent in English
- Good Microsoft office and record keeping knowledge
- Willingness to relocate to Bethlehem, Free State
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends and being on standby
- Drivers license
- Passion for animal welfare and FOUR PAWS vision and mission
