Chalmers
Astronomy and Plasma Physics division recruits postdoctoral researchers
Gothenburg
October 9, 2024
The Department of Space, Earth and Environment (SEE) explores essential scientific questions that span from the origins of the universe, our planet, and life, to present-day Earth observations. Our mission is twofold: to advance fundamental science and to develop innovative methods, tools, and models to tackle global challenges related to resources, energy supply, and environmental impact. Together, we strive to expand knowledge and promote a sustainable future for our planet.
About the Astronomy and Plasma Physics Division (Ao P)
The Astronomy and Plasma Physics Division is one of five scientific divisions within SEE, conducting world-class research in both observational and theoretical aspects of astronomy and fusion plasma physics. Our diverse research scope includes active galactic nuclei, astrochemistry, exoplanets, galaxy evolution, star formation, interstellar medium, and fusion plasma physics, including turbulence and transport in tokamaks.
The division comprises a dynamic, international team of approximately 15 faculty members, 25 postdoctoral researchers, and 10 Ph D students. We maintain strong collaborations with the Onsala Space Observatory, the Swedish national facility for radio astronomy. The observatory operates telescopes in Sweden, participates in the APEX telescope in Chile, and hosts both the Nordic ALMA Regional Center and the SKA center for Sweden. Our fusion research is integrated with the EUROfusion research consortium and involves partnerships with JET and ITER.
At Ao P, we offer an exceptional research environment for postdoctoral researchers. Our support includes an active postdoc group, mentorship programs, regular colloquia, seminars, workshops, and career development activities. Our facilities are located both on the Chalmers main campus in Johanneberg, Gothenburg, and at the Onsala Space Observatory, approximately 45 km south of Gothenburg.
We are now inviting applications for several postdoctoral positions. Detailed descriptions of each position, along with specific requirements and deadlines, can be found in the position titles below:
