The Opportunity
We offer an exciting opportunity to a senior and experienced IFRS accounting expert who would like to gain more insights about the Roche Group’s financial operations. You will be an integral member of the Group Accounting and External Reporting team at Roche’s corporate head office in Basel, Switzerland. You bring in-depth knowledge of applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as either a preparer or an (ex-)auditor of complex consolidated IFRS financial statements.

You will be responsible to support the Head of Group Accounting and External Reporting and the team in complex technical IFRS accounting matters, in particular in respect of mergers and acquisitions, alliance and revenue recognition accounting. You will be working closely with stakeholders from Group Consolidation, Group Business Development, Group and Divisional Finance, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Business Process Management, local Finance Managers, Country Chief Accountants at the Roche Services & Solutions, and our Group auditors. In this respect, you will be resolving complex accounting and reporting questions from an operational perspective, giving presentations, reviewing and writing up accounting positions, leading cross-Finance projects, and reviewing and updating the Group accounting manual.
Location: On-site working in Basel, Switzerland.

Your main tasks are to:

• Lead the resolution of complex technical IFRS accounting matters based on IFRS and the Roche Group accounting manual and support the Roche finance community listed above
  
• Provide transaction support and be the Finance representative in mergers & acquisitions, divestments and debt offerings projects
  
• Lead the implementation of new IFRS and other reporting standards and updating the Group accounting manual as necessary
  
• Support the preparation of the Roche Group’s year-end and half-year external IFRS consolidated financial statements
  
• Lead/support the completion of the half-year and year-end IFRS financial statements for the bonds issuers within Roche Group
  
• Lead large projects such as Pillar Two taxation and other accounting projects which have a significant impact on Roche Group
  
• Lead and facilitate the Roche Diploma in Accounting training together with other members of the team or network as well as updating the related training materials
  
• Ensure the operation of an effective internal control system
  
• Identify and implement process improvements on a timely basis
  
• Providing coaching and development to other members of the team to develop their IFRS expertise and problem solving skillset
  

Who you are:
To fulfill the tasks and challenges of an Accounting and External Reporting Expert in Group Accounting and External Reporting:
You must be a fully qualified Chartered or Certified Accountant (e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA, Wirtschaftsprüfer or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years of working experience in a multi-national and IFRS environment. You are used to leading projects, working with different stakeholders and following projects through from the beginning to the end in a timely manner.
You will bring the following skills and experience:

• Lead projects with excellent project management skills, attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a mindset geared for problem solving
  
• Strong technical IFRS knowledge and experience, and the ability to communicate this clearly and concisely to non-accounting specialists
  
• Ability to independently navigate and to conclude on complex technical accounting matters with high level of reliability, precision and practical application of IFRS
  
• Help other team members to develop expertise to navigate complex technical accounting
  
• Excellent communicator in English (both written and verbal)
  
• Knowledge of Pillar Two Model Rules and German language would be beneficial (but not essential).
