Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis I to join our culinary team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a Commis I, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes under the guidance of senior chefs
- Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety in the kitchen
- Follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately to ensure consistency in food preparation
- Perform basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
- Assist in the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas
- Collaborate effectively with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations during service
- Support senior chefs in plating and presenting dishes to meet quality standards
- Participate in inventory management and stock rotation to minimize waste
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Contribute creative ideas for menu development and dish improvements
- Continuously learn and develop culinary skills under the mentorship of experienced chefs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a food and beverage or restaurant operations role preferred
- Strong passion for cooking and teamwork
- Excellent guest service skills and customer-focused mindset
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, presentation, and preservation techniques
- Understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety procedures
- Physical stamina to work long hours in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately
- Basic knife skills and culinary techniques
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary trends and techniques
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and adjusting recipes
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
