Joinery Project Manager

Reports To: General Manager - Joinery
Job Summary:
The Joinery Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering custom joinery and woodworking projects on time, within budget, and according to client specifications. This role involves coordinating with various teams, including production, design, procurement, and installation teams, to ensure the smooth flow of projects from conception to completion. The ideal candidate should have strong project management skills, a solid understanding of joinery processes, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for each joinery project.
- Coordinate with the design, production, and installation teams to ensure all phases of the project are aligned.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage client expectations by providing regular updates on project status, addressing concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, communicate any changes, and ensure the final product meets client specifications.
- Lead project teams, including designers, engineers, craftsmen, and installers, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Facilitate communication between various departments to ensure clear understanding of project goals and expectations.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, discuss challenges, and assign tasks.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all costs are tracked and controlled.
- Work with procurement to ensure materials are ordered and delivered on time and within budget.
- Review and approve invoices, ensuring proper allocation of costs and adherence to project budgets.
- Ensure that all work complies with quality standards and client specifications.
- Oversee quality control at every stage of the project, from design to final installation.
- Address and resolve any issues related to quality, coordinating with the production team to implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments for each project site and implement necessary safety measures.
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols, particularly on-site during installations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including plans, contracts, invoices, and progress reports.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on project status, costs, risks, and any changes in scope.
- Ensure project records are complete and properly archived for future reference.
- Identify potential issues early in the project and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Resolve any on-site challenges or disputes related to materials, timelines, or specifications.
- Handle any unexpected delays, changes, or client requests, adjusting plans as necessary to keep the project on track.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
- Proven experience in managing joinery, woodworking, or construction projects.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and client management skills.
- Knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and production processes.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Auto CAD).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources efficiently.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the joinery or construction industry.
- Experience managing large-scale, custom joinery projects from design to installation.
- Strong understanding of project cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting.
