1. Background
The Vietnam Fleming Fund Country Grant—Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance in Vietnam (FFCGVN) addresses critical gaps in the surveillance of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria in Vietnam. This grant will support implementation of national plans for antimicrobial resistance (AMR), antimicrobial use and consumption (AMU/C) surveillance in the Human Health (HH), Environment Health (EH) and Animal Health (AH) sectors with One Health approach. We will work closely with local entities/partners that are already involved in AMR/AMU/AMC surveillance, oversight and improvement activities, local and national Technical Working Groups, national and regional reference laboratories for Human Health, other government and national and international non-government stakeholders, and Mott Mac Donald - the Fleming Fund Management Agent.
The Vietnam Fleming Fund Country Grant - Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance in Vietnam (FFCGVN) under FHI 360 addresses critical gaps in the surveillance of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria in Vietnam. This grant also supports the development and review of technical guidance and policies to improve AMR surveillance data in animal health subjects. With the target to enhance the capacity for surveillance and monitoring of AMR and AMU in human and animal health systems, the FFCGVN intends to perform research on Antimicrobial Use (AMU) in 3-5 hospitals with a focus on the overall prevalence of antimicrobial use, types of antimicrobials commonly used, indication for use and quality of antimicrobial prescribing indicators.
2. Objectives:
With this purpose, FFCGVN is seeking consultant(s) with knowledge and experience on antimicrobial use (AMU) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to support AMU survey in accordance with the WHO’s point prevalence survey (PPS) protocol at up to three to five provincial hospitals in the South and Central regions. Under this scope of work, FHI 360 requests the consultancy services to perform the tasks with the specified deliverables and timelines for the period from 1 November 2024 to 31 January 2025.
Note: Additional deliverables and working days may be included in a contract modification to align with the agreed-upon plan
3. Scope of work and expected deliverables:


Location of work: Vietnam.
Travel: Travel may be required. Travel payment is made in accordance with FHI 360 policy and procedures.
Qualifications

• Master degree on Pharmacy are required, Ph D prefered.
• At least three years of working experience with hospitals, knowledge and expertise on antimicrobial use (AMU) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research/survey or relevant topics.
• Strong experience in AMU/PPS, AMC, AMS in hospital setting.
• Good interpersonal skills, good communication skill in both Vietnamese and English.

Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on the applicants’ experience and qualifications as detailed above.
