Secondary Economics Teacher

The Business and Economics Department at BIS is a collaborative and dynamic team, committed to supporting our staff in delivering inquiry-based lessons that foster conceptual understanding. At Key Stage 4, we offer IGCSE courses in both Business and Economics, providing students with a solid foundation in their subjects while introducing the learning approaches we further develop at IBDP level. Our IBDP Business Management and Economics courses encourage critical thinking, independence, and resilience, ensuring students thrive in their studies.

The ethos of the Business and Economics Department is to support teachers and students to realise their potential. This is a thriving department in which our subjects are in high demand and student outcomes are consistently outstanding.

We are seeking applicants with a minimum of two years' teaching experience at Key Stage 5, with prior experience of the IBDP highly desirable. Whilst the primary focus of this role will be the delivery of IGCSE and IBDP Economics, some teaching of Business may also be required.

Our primary students follow the English National Curriculum blended with the thematic and interactive International Primary Curriculum and achieve outstanding outcomes. In Secondary, our students continue with the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 in preparation for their IGCSEs and later, the rigorous IB Diploma Programme. Our 2024 cohort of 102 IBDP graduates achieved an average score of 36.1 points, significantly higher than the global average of 30.3 points, with 28% of our students achieving 40 points or more and 1 student achieving a perfect score of 45. Our students are equally successful at IGCSE. Our 2024 cohort of 154 students achieved 62% of grades at A*/A with 97% of our students achieving A* - C in 5 or more subjects and 31 students achieving A*/A grades across all their subjects.

Beyond academics, we have an exceptional enrichment programme with over 100 Co-Curricular activities and expeditions both in Vietnam and globally that help our students overcome challenges, build confidence, create lifelong memories and change to the communities around them.
