Apprentice Refrigeration Mechanic

Due to continued growth, we are seeking Apprentices who are eager to join our team.
Reporting to the Service / Project Manager, your role will encompass a variety of tasks including servicing and maintaining of commercial and residential air-conditioning and mechanical services. Some installation work is required on occasion. This role will rotate between the service and projects departments to give a well rounded apprenticeship. Work in the Northwest WA will be required while working with the projects department.
The suitable applicant must be a self-motivated, competent, enthusiastic person who has the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team. Good communications skills are essential.
An apprentice refrigeration mechanic is a trainee who works under the supervision of a licensed refrigeration mechanic to learn the skills and knowledge necessary to become a fully qualified refrigeration technician. The following are some of the key responsibilities of an apprentice refrigeration mechanic:
- Assist licensed refrigeration mechanics in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
- Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in refrigeration systems.
- Gain hands-on experience in the use of tools and equipment used in the trade.
- Learn to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Follow safety procedures when working with refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
- Learn to understand the local codes and regulations related to refrigeration systems.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other members of the maintenance team.
- Attend technical classes and training sessions as required to gain additional knowledge and skills.

Apprenticeship programs typically last between 3 to 4 years, during which time the apprentice will rotate through different aspects of the trade. An apprenticeship is often a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. The requirement for an apprentice refrigeration mechanic is typically a high school diploma or equivalent, and a strong interest in the field of HVAC/R.
