The KCC Bereavement Counsellor is responsible for providing a comprehensive bereavement service and direct support for family members of patient's who access the KCC service.
You will have experience as a counselling clinician in bereavement, palliative care or end of life contexts and specialist knowledge of bereavement loss and grief processes.
The position is a part-time permanent role with flexibility as to which days are worked.
What you'll be doing
The senior social work is required to play a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical needs of children and their families are met. The position takes a leadership role in the development and provision of education programs in the relevant specialty for both social workers and health professionals within SCHN and externally. The social worker also provides a consultative role within their specialisation to key stakeholders
- Eligibility for AASW membership with significant post graduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context.
- Substantial post graduate experience in social work practice with children and their families.
- A well-developed knowledge of the psycho-social challenges facing families in the relevant clinical area and a sound knowledge of relevant community resources and support services available to the children and families.
- Significant post graduate experience in a variety of social work interventions/modalities including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, case management, counselling, group work.
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical supervision, professional education activities, service planning, and quality improvement activities.
- Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems.
- Capacity to share after hours and weekend on call duties – as required.
