About the Role
As a Locomotive Driver within our NSW Bulk business, you will prepare and operate locomotives and trains in a safe manner that complies with operational procedures in our Parkes depot. In tandem with this objective, you will play a key role in ensuring that customer and operational requirements are met, with a particular focus on safety, delivery and quality.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing/coordinating shunting movements, both independently and in cooperation with Shift Managers, in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Processing and monitoring train performance information.
  • Provisioning and preparing locomotives for train operations including checking and testing control systems as well as preparing relevant compliance documentation.
  • Working with key internal stakeholders to work towards a Delivered In-Full, On-Time (DIFOT) performance for the Pacific National group.
  • Proactively working towards and supporting the achievement of safety goals.
  • On-going commitment to company values of safety, integrity, accountability and teamwork.
About You
The ideal candidate will either be a qualified Locomotive driver holding a full Certificate IV in Train Driving, or a qualified Driver Assistant holding partial qualifications which contribute to a Certificate IV in Train Driving. We are also looking for individuals who wants a career in the rail industry. You will also possess the following skills, attributes and experience:
  • A high regard for safety and a positive and supportive attitude when working within a team environment
  • A basic level of computer proficiency
  • A strong customer focused approach to your work
  • Passion for success and willingness to undertake ongoing training and development activities
  • A genuine interest in adding value and helping our business to grow
  • Current motor vehicle licence is essential.
Please note that you must be available and flexible to work a 24/7 roster.
