The Data Migration Lead will play a pivotal role in managing and executing data migration from legacy systems to new platforms or systems. You will be responsible for gathering the migration requirements and overseeing the data migration strategy and process, ensuring it is delivered efficiently and to a high quality and meets the program requirements and timelines.
You will collaborate closely with the Transformation program and Technology Team to ensure that the migration outcomes meet the business needs and are aligned with our broader technology, architecture and data standards. As required, you will have the support of architects, engineers and platform/product teams to ensure understanding and alignment with our enterprise technology and data platforms and standards.
This is a hands-on role, where you will form strong trusted relationships with the Transformation program and Technology team more broadly.

Here is a taste of what you can expect in this role:
  • Develop a program data migration strategy
  • Develop and manage comprehensive data migration plans, including timelines, resources, and milestones, in alignment with project requirements and objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of the data migration process, from data assessment and mapping to validation and implementation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements, identify source data, and define mapping rules and transformation logic.
  • Assess data quality and integrity throughout the migration process, implementing measures to address data discrepancies or inconsistencies.
  • Design and implement data migration strategies and methodologies to optimize efficiency and minimise disruption to business operations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of data migration processes, mapping specifications, and validation procedures.
  • Manage communication and reporting on data migration progress, issues, and risks to project stakeholders and leadership.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure compatibility and integration of migrated data with target systems or platforms.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members involved in data migration activities, including training and knowledge transfer.
  • Conduct post-migration validation and reconciliation to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Manage a team of data migration specialists, providing guidance and support
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on continuous learning and improvement.
  • Set clear objectives and performance metrics, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to facilitate effective communication and alignment.


Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

  • Proven experience (5 years) in leading data migration projects, preferably within complex enterprise environments.
  • In-depth understanding of data migration concepts, methodologies, tools and best practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, data mapping, and transformation techniques.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with data migration tools and technologies, such as ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools, scripting languages, and database systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and influence decision-making.
