Experienced Apiarist/Beekeeper

Honey Producers of Australia Pty Ltd is a migratory bee business and fully certified organic honey producer working in isolated and pristine areas of regional Australia.
We are looking for an experienced Apiarist/Beekeeper to join our large commercial apiary based in Clifton on the Darling Downs, Queensland.
The role of Apiarist/Beekeeper will be responsible for assisting in the planning and coordinating the apiary’s operations to ensure maximum production from the beehives through good and safe beekeeping practices.
The duties will involve:
  • Hive management including monitoring and maintaining the health of the bees in preparation for the honey flow
  • Queen rearing and replacement
  • Harvesting and extracting honey
  • Disease detection and management
  • Preparation of hives for pollination and coordinating with farmers for pollination services
  • General hive maintenance
In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:
  • A minimum 4-5 years’ prior experience working as a skilled Apiarist/Beekeeper with a good knowledge of commercial beekeeping practices
  • Relevant tertiary or vocational qualifications and knowledge of organic farming
  • Certificates on Apiculture course from basic to advance
  • Bee disease detection and management
  • A quick learner with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Be able to work in a team and stay in the bush for periods of time
  • Be physically fit and able to life heavy weights, combined a natural ability for onloading machinery.
  • A truck licence
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $73,150.00 per year
Schedule:
  • 8 hour shift
