Farm Hand
Fodder North is based in Kununurra WA, being the largest hay production business within the Ord River Irrigation System. Growing over 600 hectares of hay for pastoralists and the horse industry within Western Australia and Northern Territory. Due to the geographical location this role is dynamic and ever changing within the challenges of the farming in a very diverse environment.
We are looking for a Mobile Plant Operator with at least 2 years of experience in Mobile Plant Operation ideally in Agricultural setting, with the ability to manage irrigations systems and weed control.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operation of various machinery for growing, producing and bailing hay

• Farm practices pertaining to hay growing and production

• Flood irrigation within the Ord River System

• Managing tail/return water with the system

• Understand the Environmental Regulations around the water return system

• Growing of various varieties of grasses, tropical legume and specialist hay cereal cropping

• Loading trucks for delivery

• Application of chemical to control weeds under supervision of Agronomist and Manager

• Accurate Record Keeping

SKILLS:

• Ability to operate the following machinery:

oBale Baron
oSeveral Different types rakes
oTedders
oHay cutting Mowers – Several different types
oDifferent types of balers
oHay Handling equipment
oAbility to operate and calibrate Fertiliser Spreader

• Servicing of Machinery

• Record Keeping

• OH& S Understanding

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

• Full time, 40 hours a week

• Above award rate determined by Pastoral Award – Farm Hand

• Hourly Rate, guaranteed salary of $75,000 per annum

• Accommodation will be supplied with electricity ($50/WEEK contribution for electricity from employee) included (Approximate value $450/week)

• Superannuation and Work Cover will be paid as per legislation

• Due to seasonal and nature business environment, days and hours will vary

• Retainer will be paid during Wet Season weekly –

• Annual holiday leave and loading will be paid at end of season/as per negotiation throughout the year

• Work vehicle and fuel supplied to travel to and from farm/s

• Vehicle is available for some personal use at no cost

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.48 – $38.49 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 65 per week
