We are seeking a farmhand to work on our mushroom farm located in Murrumbateman NSW, 25 minutes from Canberra (20 mins from Gungahlin/Belconnen in the opposite direction to the traffic). The right candidate must be a fast working, thorough, keen and energetic individual, with the ability to work independently and as a part of a small team.
This farm is run by a friendly family who looks after staff as staff retention is important to us. We have workers of different backgrounds, but you will need a good command of English for this role.
Mushrooms are grown indoors, hence the work is on-going and NOT seasonal like other produce. You will be a part of the farmhand team, responsible for the overall production aspects of the farm.
Requirements;
· Good command of English.
· Good understanding of safe work procedures and practices.
· You will have a broad range of skills such as using tools and machinery, general mechanical / maintenance knowledge.
· Holding a forklift licence or experience operating other machinery is favourable.
· You will need to be physically fit and able to do heavy lifting (up to 20kg). Hence, we require strong, healthy, fit individuals with an excellent attitude towards work and good attention to detail.
· Be able to work independently on smaller tasks and as a part of a team for major tasks.
· Ideally, you are an Australian resident or have permanent residency or valid long-term Visa.
