Italian Chef with Tapas Menu Experience
Salary - 70k- 80k plus Superannuation
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Italian Chef for our clients with expertise in crafting traditional Italian dishes and a flair for creating a Tapas-style menu. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of Italian cuisine and the versatility to design and execute small, shareable plates inspired by both Italian and Mediterranean flavors. The Italian Chef will be responsible for developing the menu, maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and presentation, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Menu Development & Design:

• Design and curate an innovative menu that combines traditional Italian dishes with a Tapas-style presentation.

• Create seasonal and specialty dishes that highlight fresh, local ingredients while maintaining the authenticity of Italian cuisine.

• Develop a range of small plates and shareable dishes, combining classic Italian flavors with creative, modern twists.

2.Food Preparation & Cooking:

• Prepare, cook, and present dishes following traditional Italian culinary techniques.

• Ensure consistency in the preparation and presentation of all dishes according to the restaurant’s standards.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in compliance with food safety regulations.

3.Quality Control & Kitchen Management:

• Monitor food quality and freshness, ensuring that all dishes meet the highest standards.

• Oversee the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during service hours.

• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, sharing knowledge of Italian and Tapas-style cooking techniques.

4.Inventory & Cost Management:

• Manage inventory, including ordering and maintaining stock levels for all necessary ingredients.

• Control food costs through portion control, minimizing waste, and sourcing high-quality ingredients.

• Work closely with the management team to set pricing and maintain profitability while delivering value to guests.

5.Guest Experience & Interaction:

• Engage with guests, as needed, to explain menu items, receive feedback, and accommodate special requests.

• Work with the front-of-house team to ensure a cohesive and exceptional dining experience for guests.

• Collaborate with other chefs and team members to create unique tasting menus, special events, and promotions.

6.Health & Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations in the kitchen.

• Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in good working order and report any maintenance needs.

• Promote a culture of safety and cleanliness among kitchen staff.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Italian Chef with a strong understanding of traditional Italian cuisine.

• Experience designing and executing a Tapas or small plates menu.

• Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen.

• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen operations.

• Ability to lead a team, work under pressure, and maintain a high standard of quality and consistency.

• Excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
