The Position
VEEM’s state-of-the-art machine shop uses high end equipment to provide market leading products for our customers in the defence and marine sectors. We are looking for an experienced Machinist who enjoys interesting and high precision work and enjoys being part of a great team.
Your Responsibilities
In the position of Machinist at VEEM, you will be required to machine components to drawings and specifications using an organised and methodical approach.
Specific responsibilities of the Machinist position include:

• Performing a wide variety of machining operations utilising heavy manual machines, both milling and turning.
• Working with management to improve quality and machining run times to maximise VEEM's competitive edge.
• Integrating smoothly into a productive and successful team.
• Meeting the ever-changing needs of the production schedule in order to satisfy customer requirements.
• Ensuring all work is completed to a high workmanship standard.
• Maintaining a safe, happy and reliable work environment.

Your Skills & Experience
To be considered for the Machinist position, you will have:

• relevant machinist qualifications at a trade level or higher;
• a strong understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling and inserts to achieve the most efficient metal removal methods.
• above average competency on conventional (manual) lathes and milling machines.
• a high level of personal honesty and integrity;
• demonstrated understanding of quality assurance principles and international standards; and
