Royal North Shore Hospital provides specialty services including major trauma, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, neonatal intensive care, bone marrow transplantation, neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology alongside acute medical, surgical, mental health, paediatric, cancer and maternity services.

What you'll be doing

This position description is for a Haematology Provisional Fellow in a laboratory role with a focus on molecular testing. The Haematology Fellow is responsible for liaison with scientific staff, participation in the interpretation and reporting of laboratory investigations with clinical follow up where indicated and the development of protocols for rational investigation of patients. They provide laboratory haematology and transfusion advice to medical staff; perform and report bone marrow biopsies; attend haematology outpatient clinics; participate in development of new laboratory tests and assist in bone marrow harvests in theatre. It is highly recommended that applicants discuss the haematology training program with the prospective network director before their application is lodged. Applicants enrolled in Haematology training will need to demonstrate satisfactory progress.

Candidates will be assessed against the Essential Requirements and Selection Criteria for this position. Please ensure you read the position description prior to submitting an application. Candidates invited to interview will need to bring originals of qualifications or licenses required for the position for sighting by the panel.

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Completion of RCPA Haematology Part One examination.

Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.

Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated engagement with Molecular Haematology with interest in obtaining further laboratory skills.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy PD2024_015, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

Working with Children Check
