What you'll be doing

Participate in the preparation of theatres before cases, cleaning and clearing theatres in between and end of cases. Removing clinical waste from the department.
Collect and return patients from the wards safely.
Take urgent specimens to pathology/bloods to ICU.
Collect items from other areas of facility as instructed by nursing staff.
Maintain patient’s trolleys in clean and tidy conditions.
Assist with application of tourniquets, positioning of patients and transfers of patients.
Assist nursing staff with cleaning of theatres at end of all theatre lists.
Identify and report issues with equipment.
Weekly ordering and distribution of stock
Work unsupervised at various times and provide training to inexperienced porters undertaking duties in the operating theatre.

Demonstrated skills to be able to work independently and as part of a team

Demonstrate effective, clear and concise communication skills

Demonstrated ability to monitor work practices, prevent security breaches and escalate breaches to immediate Line Managers

Demonstrated ability to perform patient care activities and general assistance within operating theatre area

Able to demonstrate the requirements to provide and ensure the health and safety of all persons in the workplace
