MULTIDIMENSIONAL DEMOGRAPHIC MODELING (MDM) RESEARCH GROUP
The MDM Research Group in the IIASA Population and Just Societies (POPJUS) Program is looking to recruit a statistical researcher to support the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Mozambique Population Support Analysis (MOZPSA) report.
The successful candidate will have a strong quantitative background, and support the project team in providing an integrated assessment of the country's population dynamics, issues related to gender and youth, sexual and reproductive health, and their relationships to social, economic, political, and cultural processes, taking into account the nation's notable developments and changes, and environmental and climate change issues.
BACKGROUND
The POPJUS Program strives to produce empirical-based research focusing on human and social dimensions of global change processes. With human population and behavior being one of the key drivers of transformational change toward sustainable and resilient societies, the program applies and develops innovative approaches and perspectives to study population phenomena that include population aging, health and human wellbeing, human capital formation, and migration drivers and patterns. Insights into current and future population sizes, structures, and distributions are fundamental to understanding human impacts on ecosystems and simultaneously, the impact of environmental changes on human wellbeing differentiated by sub-populations. Within the POPJUS program, the MDM research group aims to advance demographic modeling methods to assess and forecast population dynamics with a focus on demographic and spatial heterogeneity under different socioeconomic scenarios at the global, national, and sub-national levels.
