Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible to the for the maintenance and asset management of the Bahrain LNG Import Terminal to ensure that the reliability, availability and utilisation meet the contractual requirements.
The Maintenance Manager will ideally have a background in industrial maintenance management with a professional qualification in engineering and experience of hydrocarbon processing, preferably LNG.
The role works a 5-day week with a requirement to provide cover outside of normal working hours for urgent maintenance issues on a rotational basis.
Major Responsibilities
- Safe and effective maintenance of the Terminal.
- Development of an effective Asset Integrity Management Plan to ensure Bahrain LNG Import Terminal availability for continuous operations.
- As a member of the Terminal management team, ensure effective planning to coordinate maintenance activities in association with planned terminal operations to optimise the maintenance effort.
- Manage and support the maintenance team in their daily activities.
- Management of maintenance contracts with OEM and approved vendors to ensure support and attendance is readily available to meet requirements.
- Management of the operation of the warehouse and workshops and the associated spare parts, consumable stores, tools and equipment.
- Management of the Computerised Maintenance Management System in compliance with the approved Maintenance Strategy and Materials Management & Procurement procedures.
- Development of the annual maintenance budget to include costs and schedules for shutdowns, overhauls, personnel, spares, tools and all other costs such as operating permits and environmental compliance.
- Development of a spare parts inventory management system based on criticality, cost, lead time and shelf life to ensure required spares are available and stored/preserved appropriately.
- Management of the procurement process ensuring consideration of lead times, cost, original equipment supply, preferred and approved suppliers, shelf life of spare parts, consumption of stores and spare parts and planned/breakdown maintenance requirements.
- Development of a risk-based approach to optimise the maintenance effort through use of a focused RCM regime and the adoption of non-intrusive maintenance methodologies.
- Development of a maintenance dashboard to demonstrate effective compliance and continuous improvement against established metrics such as MTTR, MTBF and Planned/Unplanned maintenance activity against equipment criticality.
- Maintenance review to confirm effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance processes and procedures and to ensure compliance with industry best practices and legislative requirements.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Engineering Degree or recognised Professional Engineering qualification or relevant professional training and experience with appropriate vocational qualifications.
- Marine qualification as Chief Engineer may be acceptable provided experience includes service in senior rank on board LNG Carriers and shore management of LNG ships, offshore facilities and marine terminals.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the maintenance of hydrocarbon processing plant and systems with at least 2 years’ experience with LNG and high-pressure natural gas.
- Demonstrable experience as a Maintenance Manager utilising risk and condition-based methodologies
- Demonstrable experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and Asset Integrity Management planning.
- Experienced at supervising and directing others in maintenance and repair of hydrocarbon process plant, systems and equipment.
- Experienced at managing capital and operational expenditure budgets, contract management and procurement of spare parts and consumable stores.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent English speaker.

- Chartered Engineer.
- Knowledge and experience of LNG re-gasification processes and Nitrogen production facilities.
- Process Operations, Commissioning, Shutdown and Start-Up experience.
- Experience of training others in hydrocarbon process operations, preferably LNG and high-pressure natural gas operations.
- Health & Safety training, qualifications and experience.
- Environmental compliance training, understanding and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Previous Middle East experience.
