Collection Officer

The Role
Responsible for collection activities on all type of files: e.g. domestic, solvent, amicable (not limited to)

What you do :
Activities common to all collection officers:

Monitor and track collection activities of partners and service providers (for example attorneys, …);
Validate external costs (invoices);
Comply with internal standards and operational guidelines;
Monitor and chase expected direct and/or indirect (to customers) payments;
Request additional documentation to stakeholders when necessary;
Advise policy holders / Service users on appropriate actions;
Periodically inform (all) stakeholders on the Collections processes;
Answer policy holders / brokers questions (2nd level Customer Service team) or / Service users requests;
Answer policy holders / brokers 1st level claims related questions and/or requests;
Export Collection: Liaise with policy holders, Service Providers / External international partners, Group Collection.

Main amicable activities:

Assess and define adequate collection action plans during the amicable phase from case opening to closure;
Perform direct collection actions to get payment of the debts, when relevant, the acknowledgement of the debts and to agree on payment plans with the debtors;
Document disputes, take actions to resolve the disputes (together with a Claims specialist) on an amicable basis and, when possible, recover non disputed parts of the debts.

Main field collection activities:

Field negotiation with debtors, upon request from an amicable or legal collector;
Meet and visit debtors on site and negotiate, prepare payment plan/ schedules and get acknowledgment of debts;
Gather information on debtors.

Main legal activities:

Support the amicable collector in the assessment of the legal action (efficiency and costs);
Initiate and/or monitor domestic legal procedures.

Main insolvency activities:

Monitor insolvency procedures and/ or conduct pro-active actions (Retention of title, etc…) when relevant.

Knowledge of domestic legal and Insolvency processes
Communication / negotiation skills (non-inclusive management)
Knowledge of CI claims processes, Claims & Collections Operational guidelines
Knowledge of Claims & Collections Quality Standards
Sufficient knowledge of English, French and Dutch
