Benthic is looking to add a Jr HSE Engineer to the team. The Jr HSE Engineer acts as the competent health and safety person for the provision of advice, guidance, and support to operational and senior management teams, and supports all activity managed from Brazil, and upon request, in proximity to South America. The successful candidate monitors the H&S system effectiveness, including supporting compliance with both H&S regulatory and client H&S requirements. Duties also encompass Environment (including GHG), and ISO compliance to the extent that the Advisor’s competencies are appropriate (9001, 14001, 45001). They will provide operational support to the project and operations teams, meeting or exceeding quality assurance standards and client specifications; this includes site visits to mobilizations.

The successful candidate will be based in the Rio de Janeiro area.

Duties

Holds and maintains the minimum qualifications, core competencies and job-specific key competencies required to fulfil the HSE Advisor position responsibilities

Supports operational management with the design, implementation, maintenance, review, and continual improvement of HSE systems (Policies, Standards, Procedures, Guidance, Records); and supports the Country QHSE Manager as necessary to ensure compliance with legislation, Acteon Global Standards, and programs

Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and present recommendations for corrective and preventative actions, co-opting relevant operational personnel as necessary

Publish lessons learned for all LTI and High-Potential incidents

Conduct regular site safety inspections

Identify incident, observation, and inspection risk themes

Publish QHSE related safety bulletins

Provide written reports, performance data and updates to the QHSE Team Lead

Presentation of improvement recommendations to address identified trends in safety performance

Facilitation of HSE and worker health and safety meetings

Facilitate risk assessments /JSAs and, make recommendations for mitigating actions

Participation in project HAZID / HAZOPS

Represent Geo-Services in contact with clients, suppliers and Regulatory bodies

Creation and delivery of HSE presentations as necessary

Review tender documentation prepared by operations (e.g. QHSE questionnaires), and prepare project HSE documentation such as back-to-back documents

Conduct external supplier and sub-contractor HSE audits and internal company audits as required by the Geo-Services audit schedule

Conduct HSE related orientation and induction for all new employees

Maintain HSE training records where this sits outside of crew planning systems

Manages the Geo-Services Brazil major incident/emergency response plans, and coordinates appropriate responses

Participate / attend industry related conferences or seminars as and when requested

Required

Internationally recognized H&S qualifications, e.g., NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or regional equivalent. Bachelors or Master’s Degree is advantageous

Offshore or high-risk industry experience

Regionally recognized audit qualification, e.g. Lead / Internal auditor of ISO standards, preferable

Working knowledge of industry codes and standards; e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, API, etc.)

Good verbal and written communications skills to all levels within the Company, customers and external agencies

Valid passport free from status or restrictive conditions that preclude travel

Business level English, ideally fluent

Recognized incident investigation / Root Cause Analysis training, e.g. Kelvin Top Set, Tap Root, etc, preferable

Experience with conducting presentations and delivering training courses

Knowledge of subsea equipment and installation
