Manager, Business Development

Other related functions are:
Support execution of business plans which promote the value and profitability of Master Card acceptance.
Perform analysis, competitive intelligence and identify broad business initiatives that provide an appreciable return on financial investments.
Build strong business cases including financial analysis to generate positive impacts in card-holders attrition reduction, incremental card activation rates and new revenue streams for Master Card through merchant/acquirer programs.
Jointly, the activities above will strength MCW relationship with key stakeholders, promote the brand, generate POI preference and ultimately, spending, activation and MCW revenues; The position owner, he or she, will help implement the selected approach to identify merchant’s needs and work, directly and indirectly to bring value to those customers using MCW assets, integrating them into business building activities across all functional areas as appropriate.
Will have a direct relationship with:
- Acquirer’s Account Officers: that will manage, through large acquirers, an additional merchant portfolio (usually, key accounts with strategic relationship with Redecard, Cielo, Santander, Citi and Banrisul; minimum of 5 , up to 8-10 large accounts each, meaning a total between 30 – 40 key merchants;
- Merchant Marketing: which will provide fulfillment to Merchant Strategy, guided by Merchant Relations. On top of supporting the Acquirer Account officer, the position owner will have direct responsibility for circa of 5-10 key accounts through the relationship with the Acquirer managed by his / her supervisor.
Integral member of the Acceptance South Cone – LAC team with responsibility for help developing relationships and help to drive revenues in Brazil through Acquirers and their key accounts (merchants).
Major Accountabilities
- Support account management responsibilities – support Acquirers BDDs and manage assigned merchant accounts:
a. Prepare business model set up to review w/ Supervisor and Finance
b. Manage B-smart process (input and approval process)
c. Legal review coordination
2. CAR input and approval process
3. B2B Assets Campaigns:
a. Secure internal approval (negotiation with internal asset owners, BC preparation and submission)
b. Control and report performance (secure periodic reporting from clients)
c. Secure client sign up into MC’s formal agreements (assets usage contract, Income Tax commitment, asset usage confirmation letter)
4. Help to coordinate invitations / events attendance (includes weekends)

5. Branded Souvenir / gifts inventory management
- Support strategy implementation that grow Master Card revenue and share as well as support our customer's business objectives as defined by Acceptance & Merchant Relationship Team’s Management
- Support relationships at middle management level inside acquirer that will lead to the expansion of Master Card’s business through merchant relationships
- Support daily management responsibility for the acceptance business in acquirer’s key merchants
- Support promotional programs with acquirers in order to assure or increase MC share in key merchants;
- Support generation of promotional leads to fulfill the “Promotional Platform” shelves with offers and differentials (to be communicated by customer marketing to consumers – cardholders);
- Bi-lingual Portuguese and English, both written and spoken
- Spanish would be a plus;
- Excellent analytical skills (e.g., cards P&L analysis, financial forecasting, competitive analysis)
- Superior presentation skills, written and oral (including in English);
- Proven ability to develop business relationships at all levels
- Results-oriented and customer-focused
- Strong Sales / Business Development / Relationship Management background, preferably gained in Retail Industry ( Retailer or Consumer Products );
- Experience in issuing or acquiring can be a “plus”;
- Strong / deep knowledge of the retail environment with the preferred sectors being High street retail, Supermarkets, Soft retail, Department Store, Oil and the T&E sector;
- Ability to understand and execute on key operational aspects, and attentive to details;
- Excellent problem solving, analytic capabilities and business acumen;
- Selling Skills with ability to initiate, pursue and close a sale, as well as strong influencing and negotiation skills;
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree, MBA is a “plus”;
- Proven track record of project management capabilities;
- Team-player with hands-on attitude, strong collaborations skills;
- Strong Market knowledge is required (due to market peculiarities) ; should be a professional “ready to get on board”;
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in sales and business development at market leaders in business that provides services or goods to retailers;
- Or similar / equivalent relevant experience with market leaders in the payments industry serving retailers;
- Sales and account management experience is preferred, as is local market experience.
- Candidate should be able to demonstrate a level of business acumen and thought leadership that delivers customer focused, solution oriented results
- Strong leadership skills, capable of leading a team and working in a matrix environment
- Customer Focused. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
- Strong Project Management Skills
- Must be able to sell to Senior Management
- College degree required;
- MBA is a plus;
- Advanced business degree preferred
- National traveling required;
- Eventually international;
