The Packager/Crater, under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, will primarily be responsible for safely packaging finished goods for delivery to customers. This position will ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times.
Job Duties

• Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency;
• Ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times;
• Operate the plastic and cardboard wrapping machines in a safe and efficient manner;
• Rotate through various jobs and processes in order to suit the needs of the business;
• Continuously look for quality control issues in the finished product and immediately inform supervisory staff of any quality issues found;
• Communicate with supervisor, lead hands, and other shop personnel for assignments;
• Assist the production crew by assisting machine operators on various press brakes, shears, and other equipment as requested;
• Assist the loading crew by closing trim skids, assisting in the loading of trucks, and other tasks as needed;
• Build skids on an as needed basis;
• Mark, record, and report defective products;
• Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day;
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
• Demonstrated ability to operate material-handling equipment

Work Conditions

• Use of required personal protective equipment
• Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment
• Extended periods of standing
• Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 25 kilograms
