Location
Kanata, Ontario (280 Didsbury Road) and Orleans in the fall.
Hours
40 hours per week (must be willing to work on nights + weekends given the nature of our industry)
Roles & Responsibilities
Staff Management & Training

• Manage daily operations at Kids Can Swim including administering chemicals, documenting water chemistry levels, following opening and closing procedures, completing routine cleaning duties and equipment checks
• Provide support and leadership to aquatic educators to ensure the pool rules, procedures and practices meet the required standards
• Conduct existing Kids Can Swim Introductory training for new hires, Kids Can Swim Assessor, Shift Lead, Parent-Child Teaching courses and in-service training
• Supervise and conduct bi-annual performance evaluations of all aquatic staff
• Mentor existing staff and monitors potential staff members for advancement
• Manage all chemical/pool stock inventory and customer service inventory and orders as required
• Maintain a high proficiency with our online booking software;
• Manage staff qualifications/qualification renewals and manage any staff HR requirements
• Manage the pool schedule, placement of team members on shift and the management of any replacements as a result of sickness/vacation/etc.
• Monitor and manage quality assurance of programs delivered against the Kids Can Swim standard
• Customer Service and Outreach
• Maintain positive public relations with existing customers to ensure a high level of satisfaction with the KCS’s proprietary systems
• Initiate communication with parents during swimming lessons to keep them apprised of their child’s progress, address any concerns they may have, and understand the unique needs of all our customers
• Ensure proactive communication with parents with regard to their child’s progress, any news coming from the center and updates on theme months
• Program and promote events, workshops and courses on an on-going basis, to meet the needs of the community
• Effectively manage Kids Can Swim social media content

Safety and Security

• Manage daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and testing of pool and emergency equipment to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
• Prepare in-service training in emergency response for all staff as required
• Conduct bi-annual safety assessments of the facility and of emergency procedures to ensure they are kept current

General

• Maintain positive relationships with the management team
• Respond to new inquiries and promptly manage the contact email inbox
• Fulfill all other duties assigned by the CEO and the management team
• Effectively instruct the KCS curriculum, as required

Qualification and Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years managing and supervising a team in a customer-service driven business/industry
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills are mandatory
• French, Mandarin, Arabic or other languages an asset
• MUST HAVE: Current (valid within 2 years or willing to re-qualify if required):
• National Lifeguard Qualification (NLS)
• CPR “C” and Standard First Aid Qualification; AND
• Water Safety Instructor certification or equivalent Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
