JOB SUMMARY

The Building Maintainer is responsible for performing general repairs and maintenance on a variety of IDC properties located in Inuvik, NT. These include residential, commercial, and office buildings such as the Lauron Apartments, Stringer Rd. Row Houses, Dolphin St. Units, Department of Fisheries and Oceans Building, IRC Corporate Office, and other designated units.

The primary objective of the role is to ensure that all properties are kept in good condition, adhering to safety and operational standards. The Building Maintainer will conduct routine inspections, address maintenance issues, and perform both preventative and emergency repairs as required.

This position requires a hands-on approach and close collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.


QUALIFICATIONS


Applicants must be/have:
  • Minimum of Grade 10 education.
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License is required


Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Completion or current enrolment in a trade apprenticeship program is an asset
  • At least two years of experience in labour or maintenance roles, preferably involving work on both commercial and residential properties.
  • Experience with electrical, carpentry, and plumbing tasks is highly valued.
  • Ability to work independently and handle a variety of maintenance and repair tasks effectively
  • Applicants must complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check to be eligible for this position.
