DESCRIPTION: Chemistry Laboratory Assistant – Kelowna, BC (Full Time)
As a Laboratory Assistant for CARO Analytical Services’ growing laboratory network, your main responsibilities will include:

• Perform all required quality control procedures.
• Ensure that work is conducted in adherence with quality standards.
• Maintain logs and record as required by quality documents.
• Follow analytical methods in accordance with SOPs and specific study requirements.
• Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc.
• Perform sample preparation using documented procedures. - filtration, screening, extraction, and digestion.
• Perform laboratory analyses following documented specific methods and/or procedures.
• Carry out all required record-keeping and documentation and assist in sample flow and archiving as well as data archiving.
• Dispose samples according to local regulations.
• Assist to restock laboratory consumables/chemicals, and general laboratory clean-up and maintenance.
• Conduct field sampling where applicable.
• Clean lab areas, glassware and other reusable labware.
• Receive and ship supplies and maintain the record of inventory.
• Complete other administrative duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University or College degree/diploma in a related field is required.
• Experience working in a production lab is an asset.
• Flexible working hours (evenings, weekends) during peak periods.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Punctual, detail orientated with strong record keeping and communication skills.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access etc.).
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 40 lbs.
