Our Medical Lab Technologists provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. Through accuracy, quality, efficiency and expediting test results, you will contribute to patient well-being and the achievement of better health outcomes. Life Labs facilities are also known as teaching laboratories and offer opportunities to share knowledge in a collaborative environment. You will have 24-hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and the ability to teach our college and university student placements.
Status: Full-time permanent role
Shift: Overnight Shift; 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Discipline: Chemistry
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
- Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
- Performing, interpreting and releasing results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
- Identifying incidents and non-conformities, participating in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
- Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
- Participating in problem solving in work organization and workflow.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.
- College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- CMLTO registered and in good standing.
- Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while adhering to Life Labs standards of safety, accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail who demonstrates curiosity.
- Ability to distinguish multiple colors.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office products, as well as laboratory analyzers.
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
- Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Must have a solid understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control and be able to apply this knowledge at the right time to ensure good quality results including strong QC troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of Regulatory Compliance including IQMH, CAP, Proficiencies and outlier follow-up.
- Minimum of 3 years of current Chemistry experience is required.
- Proven ability of strong organizational behavior with the capability to multi-task, delegate, support and work collaboratively with Bio-Chemists, Management and Quality and Regulatory Affairs.
- The successful candidate must be familiar and comfortable with APX and Intrlab LIS systems.
