We are a growing organization headquartered in Surrey BC, with a branch located in Mississauga ON. We also have service locations in Edmonton AB and Winnipeg MB. This role is based out of our Surrey location and will report to Ownership.
Role Overview:
As the Financial Controller, you will be the top financial person and play a pivotal role in the leadership group, shaping departmental and business strategies, managing day-to-day operations, and overseeing a dynamic team. You will be responsible for the financial functions of the business, including accountability for accounting systems, budget development and monitoring, data analysis, pricing, and reviewing and developing procedures/processes/KPI’s to make for an efficient, data driven business. This is an exciting opportunity with a wide range of activities and opportunity for professional growth. The position will work closely with members of other teams.
Key Responsibilities:
· Promote and maintain strong employee morale and culture, setting high expectations for performance and adherence to company values.
· Preparation of accurate, timely, and reliable financial reports.
· Collaborate with other teams and ownership to prepare budgets/KPI’s and provide monthly analysis of variance by department for management review.
· Supply chain management, including managing stock requirements, issuing PO’s and tracking shipments.
· Payroll administration & processing.
· Product pricing.
· Payments to vendors via Wire Transfer/ACH.
· Liaising with other departments such as sales and customer service to support daily operations.
· Reviewing and developing procedures/processes/KPI’s that contribute to making data driven decisions and streamlining of operations.
· Collaborate with ownership to set clear financial goals and expectations that align with the corporate strategic plan.
· Review / Prepare all statutory filings, including GST, PST, EHT. WCB.
· Review / Prepare reconciliations for bank, credit card, accounts payable, inventory and other accounts.
· Maintaining fixed asset ledgers and vehicle maintenance and insurance files.
· Review / Preparation of year-end workpaper files.
· Other duties and projects as requested.
Candidate Requirements:
You are a results-oriented individual who enjoys a challenge and is seeking professional growth. You are a self-starter, hands-on, a team builder, and can work independently but enjoy working with others and building relationships. You are detail oriented but see the big picture. You are committed to fostering a dynamic company culture and will invest in this.
· Minimum 3-years experience, within Canada, post designation (CPA).
· Minimum 6-years experience, at progressive levels of responsibility in public practice and/or distribution, retail or automotive disciplines.
· Operational experience in a distribution environment and/or service business is an advantage.
· Strong Excel skills and ERP experience.
· Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data driven decisions and develop new ideas and solutions.
· Team player committed to collaborating with colleagues and outside parties to achieve group goals.
· Enthusiasm, strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude. Strong people management skills, including mentoring and developing team members.
· Solid business judgement and strong controllership focus.
· Ability to embrace new technology and software.
Compensation Details:
· Competitive salary ranging from $100K - $120K per year depending on experience.
