The Disability Services Worker (DSW), under supervision of their supervisor, facilitates and monitors education and development programs for purposes of providing individuals in service with physical, behavioural, emotional and social supports/supervision in residence and in the community. DSWs develop relationships and act as a liaison with the community, family members, guardians and employers. The DSWs will support an adult to gain independent living skills, including assistance with daily living activities including meal preparation, household chores, laundry, etc. and community access (accessing transportation to educational, recreation and community programs/events). They also, mentor and advocate for the client, and empower them to be self reliant and confident. This position reports to the Team Leader.

The front-line DSW sleeps at the client's residence and is available, if needed, to assist the client during overnight hours. During overnight hours sleep shift staff ensure a consistent, healthy and safe environment for the person in care and are available to provide immediate support in crisis situations. In the event of an emergent situation, sleep staff will be responsible for awake responsibilities.

Position does include the risk of physical aggression and the risk of theft of personal property.

Scheduling
One (1) permanent full-time position with a 2-week rotation that includes alternating weekend scheduling. Position is made up of:

• Scheduled 12 hour shifts, 1900-0700
• One 12 hour shift includes 4hrs of Awake scheduling and 8hrs of Sleep scheduling
• Two week rotation totals 84 hours bi-weekly
