SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for cost estimating of construction projects, including renovations and new stores, ensuring construction projects meet Company and industry standards, budgets and pricing.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quantity takeoffs and prepare cost estimates/budgets for assigned projects.
Assemble assigned project estimates for submission to the planning team.
Analyze variances between project costs and estimates.
Prepare comparative cost analysis and cost studies.
Identify site conditions, project risks, and cost-saving opportunities/alternatives.
Compile and analyze detailed cost data, assist in tracking market rates/trends.
Maintain and update the database of our unit rates
Review tender results when required by the execution team
Keep up to date on applicable standards for retail businesses, new regulations and best practices to ensure competitive, optimal project costs.
Perform administrative tasks and provide support as required by the direct supervisor.
Potential travel to sites might be required. Metro will compensate the expenses

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completed college diploma or university program in relevant field (e.g. construction science, construction management, building science, architectural studies, engineering).

- 3 - 5 years of directly related work experience.

Base building retail construction and design knowledge
Knowledge of building codes and grocery store construction.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, to all levels of management, vendors and outside organizations.
Strong computer skills in Excel, quantity takeoff software, and knowledge of SAP.
French proficiency would be an asset.
