Evaluation and Research Consultant

We are currently a team of 11 board members, and one part time and one full time staff. We work with community organizations, funding bodies, government departments, foundations and Grantmakers and others in communities across Canada. In addition to PTL integration work, we also plan events for past graduates networking, community consultation, board and past graduates training and building organizational capacity

Job Type: This is a contract position. The person in this role will work closely with the Director of operations, Executive director, board members as required, to design evaluation frameworks and logic models, develop research instruments / use nontraditional methods like art based, adult education tools. Lead interviews and focus groups, conduct literature reviews, analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and prepare written reports and presentations. The position will be hybrid (working from home and meetings will take place at various locations as required). Preference will be given to Vancouver and BC residents, due to in-person meetings and focus groups etc.
Overview
Pathways to Leadership (PTL) is a registered nonprofit organization located in Vancouver, BC. We are searching for a research and evaluation consultant with strong skills in program evaluation and social research methods and experience working with public benefit organizations. This role is a good fit for someone with a passion for building strong, inclusive communities based on feminist principles and has experience working with GBA plus by understanding the PTL model of integration. The role is primarily in-depth evaluation of the past graduates of the PTL programs and documenting the research in various formats like reports, presentations etc. We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working with all-inclusive women.
- Understands complex settlement and integration issues.
- Is an independent problem solver and initiator.
- Is collaborative and a relationship builder.
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector in Canada and deep knowledge and experience working with diverse and equity seeking communities esp. racialized migrant and refugee women
- Advanced training in a range of qualitative and quantitative social science research methods and program evaluation approaches such as theories of change and evaluation frameworks through a postgraduate degree in the social sciences or a specialized post-degree diploma
- A minimum of one year’s experience conducting community-based research and / or program evaluation, in Canada or in another country
- Excellent plain language writing and knowledge mobilization skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build relationships with nonprofit leaders, service users, and other project stakeholders
- Clear commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive, anti-racist working environment
- Additional language and lived experience of migration is an asset.
- Work will be a combination of daytime and evening hours and hybrid.
The contract position will be 2.5 days a week from Sept 15 to March 31, 2025 (with flexible hours) and high possibility of extending for another year part time /flexible hours. Pay scale will be $25,000 – to $29,000 depending on experience and knowledge the individual brings to the positions.
