Maxsys is currently looking for a Fitter / Welder for one of our valued clients in the Windsor Junction Area.

• Permanent role w/benefit after 3 months’ probation
• Experience dependent starting at $30/hr.
• Monday to Thursday – 4:30pm – 3:30am (Night Shift)

Requirements:

• MUST be a fitter welder for this position
• MUST have Red Seal endorsement for this position
• Block 1 (Metal Fabrication) or Level C (Welding) or equivalent training and/or experience
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business correspondence and technical documents
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and other employees.
• Ability to work with math concepts such as: metric and imperial metric conversion; percentages.
• Basic math skills math such as: multiplication, addition, subtraction, division, and apply them to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to visualize an object in both two and three dimensions
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Reliable transportation

Job Details:

• Lays/Sets steel out and fits together as per drawings and/or documentation
• Identifies where the steel is located for assembly.
• Retrieves steel from the beam line or yard for assembly.
• Analyses drawings and verifies if steel will accommodate the job
• Utilizes hydraulic punch, core drills, jib cranes, forklift, saw, mag drills, etc., as necessary
• Completes detail check once steel is on the bench and drawings are retrieved to ensure no detail is missing
• Responsible for making missing details at times or may have to locate detail from other fabricators
• Once all detail is located, view prints to determine if burning is necessary
• Grind burrs for smoothness and cosmetics to ensure that clips can be placed properly, proper fit, and squaring of ends when necessary
• Measures lines, according to drawings and squares necessary marks, picking up holes where necessary
• Places job number and piece number on structure at proper spot according to drawing specifications
• Views blueprints to identify where welding points are and welds according to size and drawing specs
• Ensures that proper drain holes are placed for galvanizing purposes
• Document any issues encountered, and actions taken to resolve
• Work closely with team members to coordinate production activities
