Position: Health & Safety Instructor (Working at Heights/Mobile Equipment)

Location: Burlington, ON
Salary: $65,000-75,000 to start, DOE

In order to meet our increased demand for training, Worksite Safety Compliance Centre is expanding our instructor-led training team, specifically for the CPO-approved Working at Heights program. There is an opportunity for this instructor to also train on mobile equipment use (forklift and elevated work platforms) and/or confined space entry. If you are a knowledgeable and experienced health and safety instructor who is passionate about safety education, this role is for you!


This full-time position reports to the Manager, Instructor-Led Training and will deliver training at our Burlington location as well as East Hamilton and other GTA locations (North York, Mississauga, Vaughan, etc.) occasionally.


As a Health & Safety Instructor your key responsibilities are:

• Delivering engaging and informative Working at Heights training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry
• Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation
• Potentially delivering other courses such as Forklift Training, Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Training, Confined Space Entry and Rescue and more.
• Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training
• Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops

The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

• 3+ years experience delivering training (Working at Heights and MEWP preferred)
• Forklift, mobile elevated work platforms and confined space entry and rescue experience considered a key asset
• Background in construction management and/or other fall hazard-related industry
• Work experience or certification in occupational health & safety preferred
  
• Strong interest educating people on the importance and value of health & safety training
• Self-starter who is able to work independently, while also contributing to a team
• Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills
• Valid Ontario’s Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work
• Able to legally work in Canada
