The Imaging Informatics Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of system management pertaining to Imaging Informatics Systems utilized within Medical Imaging departments. Works with vendors to ensure service levels meet corporate standards; tests and evaluates software in order to recommend products that will meet current and future needs. Provides user support and consultation as well as other user liaison services. Develops “Best Practice” methods, standards and procedures for utilization of Imaging Informatics systems. Provides input into the development of policies and procedures regarding configuration and utilization of Imaging Informatics systems.

What you’ll do

  • Develops specifications, test dictionaries and report formats for each Medical Imaging/Nuclear Medicine/Diagnostic Cardiology section, in conjunction with department staff.
  • Prepares implementation plans of the Imaging Information System as well as the Picture Archiving and Communication System, in collaboration with the Health Information Planning & Development (HIPD) team, vendor and department staff. Coordinates program testing prior to implementation and takes appropriate action to correct deficiencies. Ensures implementation tasks are completed on time.
  • Coordinates the installation of interfaces and equipment with the HIPD team.
  • Acts as a liaison between the vendor application specialist and HIPD on a variety of issues related to current and future requirements such as establishing standard billing codes and requisitions, specific background jobs and hardware requirements.
  • Instructs users such as Radiologists, Technologists and clerical staff, students and medical residents in routine operations, maintenance and problem correction. Acts as a resource to these users for such issues as annual Workload Measurement updates, billing code revisions, technical trouble-shooting, equipment/interface revisions and updates.
  • Facilitates the development of changes and enhancements to the computer system(s) as required by changes or developments in department practice. Prepares specifications for programs; coordinates department requirements with Information Services and vendors. Applies the appropriate Canadian Institute for Health Information Workload Measurement Systems standards to the dictionaries.

What you bring
Qualifications

  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or equivalent certification.
  • Five years’ recent, related Medical Imaging experience, inclusive of two years’ recent, related Medical Imaging clinical information systems experience in the coordination, implementation, and maintenance of radiology information systems and/or picture archiving and communication systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • May require the use of a vehicle for which mileage is reimbursed in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
  • May be required to travel, work different shift hours and weekends/STATs in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the applicable MI standards of practice and guidelines for MI clinical practitioners.
  • Knowledge of organizational MI clinical and administrative workflows.
  • Broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modality-specific workflow, radiologist reporting methodologies and image distribution requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy and procedure development and/or clinical documentation standards, business process analysis and reengineering techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding new trends in MI clinical practice and information systems.
  • Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents – including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study – and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

Wage: $45.64 - $56.99 / hour
Location: 1885 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6J 1Y5. Please note, travel to multiple sites may be required; St. Paul’s Hospital and Mount St. Joseph
