Reporting to the Manager, the Inpatient Clerk contributes to organizational day to day support on an inpatient unit by acting as the main communication link, supporting the admission/discharge function, taking appropriate action within scope of role when actioning patient care orderables, maintaining patient health records and completing clerical tasks.
Regular Part-Time
Rate of Pay: $24.36 per hour - $26.36 per hour
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Health Care Office Assistant Certificate, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and expereince as determined by the hospital
  • Previous experience with admission and discharge functions preferred
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation (Power Point), e-mail, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record, Workload Measurement Demonstrated
  • Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve while ensuring attention to detail
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Teaching, Learning and Research
London Health Sciences Centre is proudly one of Canada’s largest acute-care teaching and research hospitals. Approximately 2,900 Nursing, Health and other students ranging from secondary school to university graduate level programs receive training at LHSC every year. Immunization Requirements:
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
