About the Opportunity
Welch LLP is currently looking for a Manager, US Tax for its growing Ottawa office. You will be challenged with taking on increasingly important US tax and advisory roles on client files. You will work closely will all members of your team including senior managers and partners.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in corporate tax planning engagements.
• Think strategically about client needs by understanding their business in order to serve as a trusted business advisor.
• Supervise and mentor staff, including review of tax files to ensure the firm’s standard of quality and accuracy is met.
• Participate in the training of staff and where possible, ensure that staff concentrates efforts in areas that can enhance their effectiveness on the job and their professional development.
• Discuss proposed time budgets with partners and assign engagement budgets to staff.
• Identify new business opportunities with new and existing clients.
• Manage a team of Accountants.

Qualifications

• A minimum completion of University Degree with a specialization in Accounting.
• US or Canadian CPA, CA designation obtained or close to completion.
• A minimum of 3-4 years of public accounting experience is required.
• A passion for client service with a proven track record of supporting client’s adherence to reporting timelines.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and assurance principles.
• Experience with audit, accounting and tax software.
