Job Title: Natural Gas Scheduler
Location: Head Office, Calgary, AB

Reporting to: Manager, Commercial Gas and NGL Marketing
Position Overview:
This role supports natural gas daily/monthly sales, transport coordination, and identifying opportunities to optimize natural gas netbacks. NGL & Crude experience would also be considered an asset.
Key Job Accountabilities:

• Scheduling Natural Gas: Working closely with the Natural Gas Trader, report physical pipeline positions and schedule all daily, monthly, and seasonal requirements, including any pipeline curtailments.
• Production Monitoring & Forecasting: Coordinate with Whitecap’s engineering and field operations to monitor Whitecap sales and pipeline operations in real-time and provide the Trading team with daily and monthly forecasts and notifications of any unplanned changes to supply.
• Natural Gas Transport Optimization: Monitor and optimize pipeline firm service levels at all Whitecap sale points to ensure a reliable flow of supply to each pipeline.
• Coordinate with our operations and engineering teams to understand short and long-term gas forecasts and troubleshoot interruptions.
• This is an opportunity to understand gas balancing, including buying and selling physical natural gas to keep Whitecap's pipeline accounts within tolerance.
• Study historical data and market trends to forecast future sales and optimize trading strategies to provide analytical support to our gas trading team.
• Coordinate trucking and pipeline logistics for NGLs with our operations and field staff to ensure safe and optimal operations.
• Monitor credit risk with Whitecap’s counterparties and support our settlements team by reviewing relevant invoices to ensure they match flows and deal specifications.
• Support accounting activities, including accrual, price verifications and statement review.
• Provide on-call coverage and weekend scheduling on a rotational basis.

Primary Qualifications and Skills:

• A bachelor’s degree in economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution
• Minimum of two (2) years of related natural gas and NGL experience
• Familiarity with pipeline nomination systems, tariffs, and pipeline systems within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin
• Knowledge of tariffs, shipper and joint venture contracts and regulatory obligations
• Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
• Self-starter who can troubleshoot and resolve problems independently
• Acceptance of a dynamic role that will require the candidate to be open and willing to tackle a variety of new and diverse challenges
• Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism
• Advanced Excel user with knowledge of formulas, v-lookups, linking, and pivot tables
• Knowledge of other IT applications and Scheduling Software are beneficial: Tableau, Egistix, QByte, Production Manager, Petrotranz, Geo Scout, Bloomberg, Power BI
• Knowledge of coding and/or data system management is an asset
• Must be legally able to work in Canada
