The Resource Team is a dedicated and experienced group with diverse skills that has built strong relationships with local foster families, out-of-care providers, and community agencies. This collaborative team, consisting of seven Resource Workers and a Resource Team Leader, works closely across all Ministry of Children and Family Development service lines, including Guardianship, Child Protection, Child and Youth Mental Health, Children and Youth with Support Needs, Adoptions, and Youth Justice, to ensure that children and youth in care are matched with safe, supportive foster placements. The Resource Team fosters positive community outcomes through their commitment to supporting local children and families in their high-impact work.
The Role
The Resources Team Leader supervises a team of unionized staff and directs and monitor the day-to-day delivery of services to children and families with a focus on Residential Resources, Contracted Residential Agency Resources and Out of Care Options. In this role you will lead the transition to Specialized Homes and Support Services (SHSS), ensuring children and youth in care are placed in reliable and caring contracted agencies. Your leadership will have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of local children and families by recruiting and supporting skilled caregivers and ensuring quality caregiving standards are met. Each day brings variety, new challenges, and opportunities to practice child-centered care, collaborate across disciplines, and build relationships with community partners.

Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements
1. Preferred Credentials:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR

A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least 2 years of job-specific work experience. Experience supervising staff.

Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific work experience OR At least 3 years of job-specific work experience. Experience supervising staff.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- Eligible for full (C6) delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA).
- Experience working in Resources.
- SAFE training and experiencing using the SAFE assessment tool.
- Six (6) months or more recent (within the last two (2) years) supervisory experience.
- Experience supervising virtual teams.
- Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment.
- Experience working in rural and remote communities. Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

About this Position:
There are two (2) Permanent Full Time position available: One (1) in Kamloops and one (1) in either Williams Lake or 100 Mile House.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, and Kamloops.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
