A full-service firm of Chartered Professional Accountants located in West Vancouver, BC, is looking for a Staff Accountant to join the team. Position Summary:
This full-time salaried position requires you to perform accounting, assurance and tax services for client engagements. You will report to a supervisor, and also directly to the Firm’s partners depending on the engagement. The Staff Accountant position provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills as an accountant as you will be working on a variety of engagements, working directly with clients, and learning from the Firm’s partners and staff in a friendly and collaborative team environment.
Tasks:
- Prepare financial statements
- Prepare electronic working paper files for compilation, review and audit engagements, income tax and information returns for individuals, corporations, and trusts
- Communicate with the Canada Revenue Agency to follow up regarding client corporate, GST, and payroll accounts
- Provide support to supervisor and partners on client engagements
- Superior problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong ability to work with others effectively in a team
- Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision, effectively prioritize work, multi-task and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines
- Highly-detailed and well-organized
- Strong client service skills
- Potential to evolve in role and ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Recognizes opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
- Two or more years of experience in a similar role preferred
- At least one year of public practice experience required
- Completed or enrollment in CPA program modules
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Experience with accounting and tax software programs and ability and willingness to learn other business software
- This position is suitable for articling students following the “Assurance, Compilation, and Tax (ACT)” pre-approved CPA Designation path
- Bank your overtime during tax season to receive paid time off later in the year
- Three weeks paid vacation

- The final salary for this position will depend on your experience and level of effectiveness, and will be in the range of $45,000 to $60,000
