Overview: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Transport & Logistics Manager to oversee our transport and logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating logistics, managing transportation fleets, optimizing rosters and schedules, and ensuring efficient overall operations.
Duties: Including but not limited to;
- Lead and manage a team of dispatchers and class 1 drivers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Promote and enforce accountability within the team to achieve goals and objectives.
- Scheduling staff shifts, rotations, time off requests and managing workflow timelines.
- Develop, implement and enforce strategies, policies, standards and procedures to optimize efficiency.
- Ensure all policies, standards and expectations are trained and enforced.
- Liaise with carriers/vendors to negotiate rates and service agreements.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, legal requirements, company standards and modifying/improving as required.
- Analyze logistics data, transportation costs, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance transportation efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
- Liaise between all departments to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct site visits to oversee and lead field operations when required.
- Flexibility for after-hours support and on-call duties as needed.
- 5+ years of management, transportation/logistics and fleet management experience.
- Proven experience cultivating and developing vendor relationships and client partnerships.
- Strategic planning abilities with a forward-thinking mindset committed to driving organizational growth and success.
- Class 1 license an asset.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, mentor, develop and manage a team effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance, and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Strong organization, time management, communication, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
- Proficient with MS Office applications and basic computer functions.
