Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior UAV Engineer to join our team. This role will be instrumental in developing and optimizing UAV systems and software, with hands-on involvement in prototypes. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to lead technical projects and ensure our systems meet the highest defense and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate UAV software and hardware systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance.
- Lead technical aspects of UAV projects, delivering solutions that meet client and stakeholder needs.
- Work on sensor integration (EO, IR, and laser payloads) and optimize systems for various operational scenarios.
- Collaborate across departments to align projects with strategic goals and operational requirements.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure system performance and refine prototypes.
- Document development processes and provide reports on project progress and system status.
- Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Due to the sensitive nature of our work with various militaries and governments, all candidates must meet these security clearance requirements.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in UAV development, including work with avionics systems and sensor integration.
- Proven hands-on experience with UAV/UAS platforms and embedded systems software development (e.g., C/C++, Python).
- Proficiency with UAS communication protocols.
- Strong passion for UAV technology and defense applications, with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and willingness to travel internationally for projects.
- Experience with electronics-mechanical interfaces and rapid prototyping.
- Familiarity with guidance, navigation algorithms, UAV control systems, and robotic frameworks (e.g., ROS).
- Knowledge of image processing, computer vision, and related technologies for UAV applications.
- Experience with 3D modeling software and simulation tools like Matlab.
- Understanding of machine learning principles and their application to UAV systems.

This is a project-based position lasting approximately 12 months. We are looking to hire 2 Engineers and 1 Senior Engineer to support this project. The roles are temporary; however, there may be opportunities for 1-2 engineers to transition into permanent positions based on performance and business needs at the project's conclusion.

Contract length: 12 months
