Position: Warehouse Associate - Casual
Pay: $18.15 / hour increases after 3 Months 10 Months and 18 Months as per the CBA
Location: Hamilton - 65 East Cargo Road L0R 1W0
Schedule: 10 P.M - 10A.M - Flexible shifts available, no guarantee of hours
OVERALL PURPOSE:
To participate in the safe, accurate and timely processing - scan, unload, cross dock and/or load, of inbound and out-bound freight, to meet DHL on-time performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Scan freight as per Global SOP in various programs
- Unload and/or load freight safely, correctly and quickly
- Move freight within the warehouse area as per requirements
- Accurately sort & process, by deadlines, in-bound and outbound material
- Participate in the organization and clean-up of the warehouse area
- Participate in maintaining a safe and co-operative work environment
- Other warehouse/retail duties as assigned by the shift Supervisor
Do you have what it takes?
- Must have ability to lift and carry parcels, up to and including 70 lbs per piece unassisted, throughout shift
- 100% accuracy in sort to minimize mis sorts
- Meet company productivity targets
- Responsible for internal and external customer satisfaction
- Handle shipments in a manner that minimizes damage
- Shipment processing complies with Dangerous Goods handling requirements
- Follow policy and procedures as outlined by shift Supervisor
- Maintain a secure and safe working environment for all staff
- Comply with Collective Agreement
- Alert operations management of service issues immediately as they occur
- Proven ability to work effectively and on-time within tight time constraints
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Broad general working knowledge of warehouse functions
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the DHL operations system
- Ability to communicate effectively
- High School diploma
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Often fatiguing - hot or cold warehouse environment dependent upon season. The job might often require concentrated levels of attention and physical activity. Time constraints may be an ongoing aspect of the job. A safety first approach must be had at all times.
