The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering is an dynamic and fast growing department, to contribute your talent for the department further development. The department offers BEng (Hons) Product Design and Manufacture (2+2, 4+0) and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2+2, 4+0) programmes which cover mechanics, dynamics, kinetics, thermodynamics, energy, fluids, materials, manufacture, ergonomics and design. The department has strong links with the corresponding departments in the UK and Malaysia campuses of the University of Nottingham. Its exceptionally close involvement with Chinese and international institutions and industries ensures a high quality teaching and research in the relevant professional fields.
We seek to appoint an associate professor in mechanical engineering, preferably with the international experience of teaching in a higher education institution. The person appointed will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to supervise undergraduate and masters dissertations. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct original research in appropriate fields and play a lead role in collaborative research projects, leading to high quality publications and grant income. The person appointed will also be expected to assist with the administration of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and the Faculty of Science and Engineering in general and thus contribute to the Department’s growth in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
The candidate must have a Ph D degree in a relevant engineering discipline and excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Experience of supervising Ph D and Master students and experience of teaching, tutorial or laboratory work at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution are preferable.
Salary will be within the range of RMB 628,750 to RMB 772,893 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, schooling support and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China for a period of five years starting from November 2024 or as soon as thereafter.. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
