About the role

SEI Latin America is seeking a dedicated individual to support research aimed at scaling up renewable energy sources in an equitable and just way. You will conduct in-depth reviews of existing policies, regulatory frameworks, and literature on social acceptance, with a focus on community engagement, benefit-sharing mechanisms and responsible environmental management across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Your main responsibilities will include:

• Research and analyze renewable energy policies and regulations across Latin America to identify effective practices, common barriers and policy gaps.
• Design and conduct in-depth research on the social acceptance of renewable energy in Colombia and Latin America, including developing appropriate research methodologies.
• Contribute to characterizing the renewable energy industry in Colombia, exploring its opportunities and challenges.
• Support activities for stakeholder engagement, capacity building and decision-making involving public, private and local communities’ actors.
• Prepare materials to disseminate research findings and build capacity among key stakeholders, including reports, scientific articles, presentations and communication materials.
• Take ownership of specific deliverables and processes as required, and mentor junior staff where appropriate.

Who you are

You hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, law or a related field. While you may have limited professional experience, you have completed academic work involving qualitative or quantitative on renewable energy. You understand the renewable energy landscape in Latin America, including its policies and barriers, with experience in more than one Latin American country. You are organized, proactive and collaborative, with strong problem solving skills and a passion for growth. You possess excellent leadership and communications skills in both Spanish and English (Portuguese is a plus) and can work independently on tasks aligned with team workflows. You are also prepared for fieldwork in diverse climatic conditions, including travel to remote locations.
In addition, it would be beneficial if you possess the following:

• Experience preparing reports and publications based on field research.
• Established networks within government, civil society and the private sector in Colombia and Latin America.
